Why do we get pimples mostly on the face?

Pimples most often affect the face, back, and shoulders. This is because there are many sebaceous glands in these areas of skin. Acne vulgaris, the main cause of pimples, affects over 80 percent of teenagers. After the age of 25 years, it affects 3 percent of men and 12 percent of women. They happen when the sebaceous glands become more active, dead skin cells clog the pores, and sometimes an infection develops. There is not enough evidence to confirm that any particular food causes acne, but following a healthful diet may reduce the risk.

Here are some of the main causes of pimples:

  • Not Properly Cleansing the Skin.
  • Catching a Bacterial Infection.
  • Hormonal Changes.
  • Overindulging In Junk Food.
  • Taking Too Much Stress.
  • Lack of Sleep.

Prevention:

Pimples, also called acne, occur when your skin’s oil glands are overactive and pores become inflamed. Some types of skin bacteria may make pimples worse. Pimples can appear anywhere on the skin, but they most often occur on the face.

Because pimples are usually triggered by androgen hormones and, in some cases, genetics, there’s no sure fire way to prevent them. Still, there are many methods to reduce their severity and keep them in check.

  • Properly wash your face.
  • Moisturize skin.
  • Stay hydrated.
  • Reduce stress.
  • Avoid certain foods.
